River and Estuary Dynamics

Conveners: Alexander Horner-Devine and Barbara Hickey

Rivers play a central role in the conveyance of materials from mountains, plains and cities to the sea. This session examines transport and mixing in rivers, including processes upstream as well as those in the estuary and coastal plume. The session will address topics such as turbulence, sediment transport and coherent structures, as well as the impact of density stratification on those processes. Contributions are welcomed that describe field, laboratory and numerical modeling studies.
